Rebel News relies on a crowdfunding model, where thousands of ordinary people support it through small contributions. We call this "social commerce"; others call it "pay it forward". It's how we pay our bills.
Contribution Policy
Crowdfunded contributions to Rebel News are considered gratuitous gifts and do not result in any equity or other ownership or rights to contributors. All transactions are final and non-refundable.
Surplus Funds for Specific Initiatives
Surplus funds raised for specific initiatives will be used for other costs associated with that particular project, such as website development, website hosting, mail, and other such expenses including to pay our journalists' salaries. Additional funds will be used towards other similar initiatives in the future.
Tax-Deductibility
Please note that contributions to Rebel News are not tax-deductible. We are unable to offer receipts for donations sent by mail. If you would like a confirmation of a donation you made, you can contact us at [email protected]. Please include your name, email address, the date and amount of your donation, and phone number so we can accurately deal with your request.
Charitable Organizations
From time to time, Rebel News facilitates donations to registered charitable organizations. Rebel News does not hold any of those funds. Donations made expressly to charitable organizations on Rebel News webpages go directly to the charity and are not handled by Rebel News. Charitable organizations determine the allocation of donations at their own discretion. To facilitate communication, donors that contribute through RebelNews.com, portals and forms on RebelNews.com, or any subsidiaries consent to receive communications from Rebel News.
Donation "Perks"
Occasionally Rebel News may offer perks for donations to certain campaigns, reports, or documentaries. All donations made to a campaign with perks are final and non-refundable. Only donations that are explicitly designated for a campaign that promises perks are eligible. Donations made on pages that do not mention a campaign with perks are not eligible to receive perks.
Donors should be aware that the production and release schedule of a campaign, report, or documentary may be subject to unforeseen delays or difficulties, which could impact the timing of perk fulfillment.
There is no guaranteed timeline for perk fulfillment unless otherwise stated. Perk availability is subject to change without notice, and we reserve the right to substitute a perk of equal or greater value if necessary. To ensure successful perk delivery, donors must provide accurate and up-to-date information. Failure to do so may result in delay or non-delivery of the perk.
Please note that perk eligibility concludes once the campaign, report, or documentary is released. The project team reserves the right to cancel or suspend the campaign at any time, for any reason, without liability to donors or supporters.
Donors may be acknowledged publicly for their support unless they request anonymity. By donating to the project, donors agree to be bound by these terms and conditions, as well as any updates or modifications made by the project team.
Perk donations are subject to all other terms and conditions listed for contributions to Rebel News.
Subscriptions
You are not required to purchase a Rebel News Plus (stylized as Rebelnews+) subscription in order to view the Site or use the Services other than Rebel News. However, without a Rebel News Plus subscription, you will not be able to view Rebel News Plus content. When you purchase a subscription, you agree to pay the applicable subscription fee, as well as any applicable taxes and renewal fees as described more fully below. If we are unable to charge your credit card or other payment method, your subscription will automatically terminate.
We may increase the price of Rebel News subscriptions at any time, however, we will give you at least thirty (30) days advance notice of any price increase. This advance notice will give you an opportunity to cancel your subscription before the price increase goes into effect. If you do not cancel your subscription before the price increase goes into effect, you will be deemed to have agreed to the price increase.
If you subscribe to Rebel News, you agree to keep your contact information (i.e. address, email address, phone number) and payment information up-to-date at all times.
Promotional Codes
When using a promotional code to subscribe to Premium Content at a discounted price, the discount applies only during the initial subscription period and does not apply to renewal periods. All renewals will be charged at the then-current subscription price.
Monthly Subscriptions
Monthly subscriptions will automatically renew every fourth week commencing from your purchase date. You must cancel your subscription before the renewal date to prevent the next charge to your credit card.
Yearly Subscription
Your yearly subscription will automatically renew at the end of each subscription year commencing from your purchase date. You must cancel your subscription before the renewal date to prevent the next charge to your credit card.
Services & Fees
You will not be charged a fee for a Service unless you subscribe to that Service. You must be of the age of majority in your jurisdiction of residence to subscribe to a Service.
Rebel News does not guarantee service on all devices. Please note that third-party cookies must be enabled in order to access Premium Content.
Rebel News makes no guarantee as to the availability of any particular episode or content on Rebel News, the total number of episodes or amount of content to be broadcast. Talent is subject to change without notice. Rebel News is not responsible for views expressed by any of our talent.
The fees for Service (plus any applicable taxes or other additional charges, such as administration, transaction or access fees), accepted methods of payment and accepted frequencies of billing (such as one-time, every four weeks, monthly or annually) will be specified at the time of subscription. All fees, unless otherwise specified, are in Canadian dollars.
Cancellation & Refund Policy
All charges for monthly and annual subscriptions are non-refundable.
Cancelling Your Monthly Subscription
You may cancel your monthly subscription at any time by contacting Rebel News support, or by signing into your Rebel News Plus account and clicking Cancel Subscription. When cancelling in your account settings, you will lose access to your subscription at period end.
Please note that all new, yearly-subscribers are subject to a trial period. Upon completion of the trial period, users will be charged a subscription fee. All cancellation requests must be made prior to the date of the completion for the trial period in order to avoid charges. All charges for subscriptions are non-refundable.
Cancelling Your Yearly Subscription
You can cancel your yearly subscription at any time by contacting Rebel News support, or by signing into your account and clicking Cancel Subscription. When cancelling in your account settings you will lose access to your subscription at the period end.
